Sketchbook Project Limited Edition Vol. 1.

A couple of months back a friend who knew of my love for illustration informed me of the Brooklyn Art Library Sketchbook Project Limited Edition Vol. 1. And to me, this was the perfect opportunity to once again let go of the mouse and get back to my first love - that empty sheet of paper. This wasn’t a competition but something much larger and therefore more significant. It was about the coming together of a worldwide community of around 5,000 artists to revive the art of sketching and share our passion for this art form with an international audience. As part of this initiative, the Sketchbook that I have created will be included in a bound and hand-finished series of art books documenting this project in the fall of 2012. Embarking on this project was not just rejuvenating but also gave me an opportunity to rediscover myself. Thoughts and concepts began to flow effortlessly as if just waiting to be let loose. The artist was in charge once again. The theme I chose was 'Time and the way we Travel' in which I have explored the same through a series of realistic and surrealistic expressions. These illustrations are rendered in Fountain Pen, 4B pencil and Paper tear-outs.
